How It Works

At the heart of the Thermal-Store system are ice balls, housed within a large, highly insulated glycol storage tank. During periods of solar energy production or off-peak utility pricing, a water chiller lowers the temperature of the glycol, freezing the ice balls. Once frozen, and the glycol is at the desired temperature, the system becomes a powerful reserve of cold thermal energy.

This stored energy can then be deployed during peak electricity demand periods —when energy costs are highest or when solar input is unavailable — allowing the chiller to remain offline while still providing reliable, on-demand cooling. By converting surplus solar generation into stored cooling capacity, Thermal-Store effectively extends the use of solar energy beyond daylight hours, reducing dependence on grid electricity.
